
Black History Lectures
From Sunday 8 January 2012
Robin Walker will be teaching an Advanced course on Black History and African World Studies AIMED AT ADULTS WHO HAVE ALREADY STUDIED some Black History, Black Studies, or African World Studies courses, but would like to take the next step.
Who should enrol on this course?
To enrol on this course, it will be assumed:
1. That you are already familiar with the outline of early African history.
2. That you already know the roles that Africa and African descended people have played in the origin and evolution of art, music, science and technology.
3. That you are already familiar with the current issues in Black politics, sociology and psychology.
4. That you already know some of the history and controversies in religion, and its role in Black culture.

What are the objectives in teaching this course?
The objectives of the course are as follows::
1. To enable the student to study the key African World Studies texts in a mutually supportive environment.
2. To enable the student to develop self-assurance in presenting and discussing the information.
3. To enable the student to use the material to address practical problems facing the Black community right here, right now.
What is the programme?
This is a 30-week programme that covers the following subjects:
Classes 1 – 12 History
Classes 13 – 15 Sociology
Classes 16 – 18 Psychology
Classes 19 – 24 Production
Classes 25 – 27 Religion
Classes 28 – 29 Political Economy
Class 30 Discussion
Courses are available for 6 weeks, 12 weeks, 26 weeks or 36 weeks to suit your schedule.
Times: 12.30-2.30pm, this Sunday and every Sunday.
Robin Walker lectures of great issues of the black race from the works black icons from Ivan Van Sertima, Dr Kwame Nkrumah, Josef Ben Jochannan, John Henrik Clarke to Cheikh Anta Diop, Mary Seacole, Harriet Tubman, C.J.
